  Technology Transfer
The practice of Colorado State University is to hold title to all data, copyrights, patents, and inventions generated by its faculty in the course of sponsored research. While flexibility does exist, the written agreement executed by the University and the sponsor clearly must state rights and ownership of all such items. The Colorado State University Research Foundation manages the intellectual property accruing to the University. Colorado State shares portions of royalties with its inventors to recognize their contributions.
Publication
The gathering and dissemination of knowledge comprise two parts of the University’s mission, and therefore, the University is committed to publishing research results. However, upon request, Colorado State will consider withholding publication of proprietary data provided by the sponsor or information relating to the sponsor’s inventions or personal privacy as defined by the terms of the agreement. The faculty members are strongly urged to inform sponsors of progress and research results on a timely basis and to disseminate research results in professional publications.
